Solar for Schools program $14,945

In 2010, Bulimba State School P&C were successful in obtaining two grants that can assist with our school’s sustainability initiative by increasing the number of solar panels installed on our roof.  The details of these grants are as follows:

  1. Lord Mayor’s sustainability Grants Program, Round 2 2009/2010 awarded us $7,445.50 (plus GST)
  2. Gambling Community Benefit Fund Round 3, Community Solar program awarded us $7,500 (plus GST)

The funds from these grants supplement funds from the federal government’s Solar for Schools program to substantially increase our capacity to generate a proportion of our own power.  We understand that students will be able to monitor the amount of power generated by the panels on the school roof through the Solar for School’s website initiative.

The journey to a more sustainable future is actively encouraged at our school.  Our recycling practises are well established and this encouraged our P&C to enter the Coles recycling program in 2010.Coles were suitably impressed with the inspirational efforts of our students and donated an outdoor seat, made of recycled plastic, for them to use in the gardens.
