Swim Club
Swim Club is a subcommittee of the P&C and is run by Bulimba State School parents. In 2008/9 we had more than 110 children swimming over the season. See weekly newsletter for details of sign night for 2010.
Swim Club night is every Thursday night from 5.30-8pm in Terms 1 & 4. All families are welcome. We include ½ pool races for early swimmers, 25m races (all strokes), 50m races (all strokes) and a Race Special (200m) every week. Each child is timed and will race against children of similar ability. This is a Swim Club which encourages participation and self-improvement for swimmers of all abilities.
Swim Club membership will be $55 single child, $90 per family together with a refundable $50 levy. Membership covers Swim Club nights, participation in 2 outside swimming carnivals, Swim Club Championships Day, and end-of-season trophies for each child.
Swim Club has a canteen which makes tasty dinners for Swim Club families. All systems are in place but a new canteen team is needed to order the food and cook it.
The Swimming Club exists to supplement the swimming program offered by the school by providing additional instruction and opportunities for competition at a range of levels. Its objectives are:
- To provide a health and physical education program that will benefits the students attending the club
- To provide opportunities for children to grow and develop, physically, mentally and emotionally through the sport of swimming
- To provide competitive opportunities to swimmers in a positive, encouraging environment
- To support the school in its health and physical education programs
- Support the P & C Association in fostering the well-being of Bulimba State School
