Swimathon / Moveathon
Every year in Term 1, the Swimathon (for students in years 1 to 6) and Moveathon (Prep students) is held and is a major fund raising initiative of the P&C. The funds raised assist in the provision of a qualified Swimming Teacher Aide for swimming lessons and provide additional funding for the school. In 2016, thanks to the generous support of parents, sponsors and the community we raised a massive $25,000.
All students swim as many 25m lengths of the school pool as they can in 20-25 minutes. Year 1 and 2 swim across the width of the pool. It is amazing to see how many laps the children can swim, so everyone is welcome to come along to encourage the children and count their laps!
We also encourage parents to participate by swimming laps during the parent session. The school pool opens one morning during this event for teachers and parents to contribute their laps to the overall total for their child/childrens’ house.
For the students, it is all about participation. Certificates are awarded to every participant, plus great prizes for achievements including:
• Highest level of class participation
• Highest fundraising total raised by a class
• Best individual effort (as awarded by the PE Teacher)
• Highest total individual fundraiser.
• Highest total laps completed by a parent or teacher.
Every child that raises a total of $100 or more receives a prize!
